WHO'S BARBARA

I was photographed here in 2016 for my first-ever Activewear collection.

Hi, I'm Barbara, and I'm so glad you're here!

I want you to get to know me better and feel the energy I pour into every design. My ultimate vision is to celebrate and create for the BP GIRL – a woman who already exists, and if you're reading this, that means you are one of them.

The BP GIRL is the woman I design for: a perfect reflection of confidence, clear on what she wants in life, and incredibly passionate. She embraces balance, loves to enjoy life, and always takes impeccable care of herself. She's the ultimate "It Girl" who consistently looks stunning, works hard for her goals, and understands the power of boundaries. She's active, dynamic, and absolutely loves art and good design.

My journey as a designer began in Caracas, a vibrant city that ignited my spirit as both a creator and an entrepreneur. I've always been driven by a restless curiosity, constantly seeking to bring something new into existence – something truly different and beautiful.

My early design explorations were eclectic, spanning vintage, geometric, and luxury fashion, alongside avant-garde design and the structured beauty of architecture. You might be wondering, then, how I eventually landed in activewear. That, my friend, is a fantastic and rather funny story. Back in Venezuela, the activewear market as we know it simply didn't exist beyond the big international brands. As someone who's always been active (my absolute favorite workout is playing tennis!), I loved trying new classes. It's actually during my workouts today that many of my best ideas emerge; being surrounded by other women, observing their style and what they wear, is incredibly inspiring.Rewind to that funny story: one day, in a Caracas workout class, I truly looked at what women were wearing for the first time. My immediate thought was, "Oh my god, they're wearing pajamas!" I couldn't believe how basic and boring activewear was. Right then, an idea sparked, and I started sketching.

I launched my first collection in 2016, under the brand name BP Activewear. It was an incredible experience, and I truly miss my Venezuelan BP GIRLS. But life, as it often does, led me down a new path.In 2019, I made the difficult decision to close my studio and showroom in Caracas and move to New York City, ready to start from scratch. It took years to find my footing both personally and professionally, truly understanding the process of rebuilding. Yet, through it all, I never lost sight of my goal or my passion for design. That time has finally arrived. New York City has opened its arms, and I'm incredibly excited to continue this journey with you. I can't wait to share every new collection and fantastic events as we move forward together!
